We are delighted your child is interested in playing netball. Netball is a fantastic team sport for both boys and girls. It's good for overall fitness, team building, strength and balance, endurance, resilience and so much more!

At Newborough we have a long history of being a very successful and proud Club. We represent Newborough Primary School with passion and great sportsmanship.

Newborough Netball Club participates in Net Set Go - the Australian national program for school-aged netballers; as well as the Junior Competition at Perth Netball Association (PNA).

WOOLWORTHS NET SET GO

NSG has modified rules (smaller balls & goals, relaxed rules etc). The program is divided as follows:

NET - Pre-Primary & Year 1 - this is a skills only program with no competition (more information on this program will be released in week 4)

SET - Year 2 & 3 - training for skills development & competition against other schools / clubs

GO - Year 4 & 5 * - training for skills development & competition against other schools / clubs

All NSG participants receive a T-shirt and ball directly from Netball Australia (this is part of the registration fee). This can be worn at training.

uniform - year 2 & 3

Players in Year 2 & 3 are issued with a Newborough Netball shirt (on loan from the P&C). This is to be worn with players' own green (not tartan) skort or short.

UNIFORM - YEAR 4, 5 & 6

Players in Year 4 and above are issued with a Newborough Netball Club dress (on loan from the P&C). Gilbert netball shorts should be worn under dresses. Tank tops are also available.

yEAR 4, 5 & 6

Gilbert Netball Shorts are to be worn under Newborough Netball dress. They can be purchased from the Club for $23 or from your local sports store.

Every team needs three parents to take on the job of coach, assistant coach and team manager.

Unfortunately a team cannot play without parent support as we are a volunteer based Club with no funds for paid coaches (like most public school netball clubs).

From personal experience, coaching is a very rewarding job. And the harsh reality is, if you want your son or daughter to play netball, parents or extended family must get involved.

Full support is provided by the Club. No experience is necessary. But a good sense of humour definitely helps.

Also remember, training days are decided based on coach availability.

If team numbers for players in year 4, 5 & 6 require it, grading will be held after school on Tuesday or Wednesday in early February to determine team allocations.

Players in year 2 & 3 will be allocated a team based on coach availability and numbers. Mixed 2/3; 4/5 and 5/6 teams are common - especially in schools of our size.

ALL PLEASE NOTE:

Every effort will be made to place all children in a team. However, occasionally we receive too few, or too many nominations and are unable to accommodate everyone (for example if we receive 12 requests in a year group which isn't enough for two teams, but is too many for one team).

Hence, please complete your EOI as early as possible (no payment is required at this stage) so we know how many children we need to accommodate. Priority for placement is based on date of application and returning players.
